    not to good

I got this gun a few weeks back and fell in love with it I was surprised with the power and accuracy this gun has but after a few weeks of practice rounds the gun start getting jammed and I now will not Fire I would think for 350.00 and the concert of it being your defense mechanism you would think a few rounds of practice will not harm the gun not sure if I would recommend

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Don’t buy this device. You will not get co2 canisters to operate it. Evidently they don’t sell the co2 canisters anymore. They are out of stock and don’t know when they will get another supply.

Works great. Glad I bought it.

I haven’t actually had to use it for home defense, and hope I never do. However, I did shoot the practice rounds to get a feel for it. The accuracy was good, not pinpoint, but certainly good enough to hit an intruder if you are even a halfway decent shot. The rounds pack a punch. I can tell they were hitting hard. Even without the pepper powder, I think most intruders would turn and run just from being hit by the balls themselves.I used to play paintball quite a bit so I know those things are not fun to get hit by, and that’s when you are expecting it. Coming into a house and getting hit by them without knowing it’s coming would certainly make most people want to get the heck out of there as fast as they can.Add in the pepper spray / tear gas powder on top of it and I would say this is an effective home defense tool.

    Good quality non-lethal defense weapon.

I am not a gun owner. I do not have anything against owning a gun its just not my choice. This is kind of a middle ground defensive weapon. It is not lethal, but it packs enough punch to really discourage an intruder. You do not need to be standing a few feet away like you would with a pepper spray. Good quality manufacture, but not weapon grade. I bought hard rubber balls as ammunition at a very reduced price compared to the offered ammunition.

    Cool!

Easy to use. I fired off all the practice balls with no problem. I bought the cartridges from Walmart before the gun arrived. I’m not sure why there are negative reviews about the cartridges not being in the kit, because the description says they don’t come with it. Then there are the reviews saying the cartridges leak. You can avoid that by not puncturing the cartridge with the first trigger pull until you need too. I was able to take 20 shots before I needed to replace the cartridge. I hope I never get in the situation where I need to use the pepper balls. I bought two more mags that I loaded with paint balls, and the rest of the pepper balls. The mag I keep in the gun is loaded with pepper balls. I also purchased some rubber balls, because the paint balls that I purchased aren’t reliable. The paint balls sometimes burst in the barrel. Luckily you can unscrew the barrel to clean it out.

SALT Gun. Safe, effective, and non-lethal protection.

Pros:The gun is lightweightLike a paintball gun, there is a lack of recoil making it easier to shootIs incredibly accurate up to 150 feetCase is modern and gives ability to lock gun upProvides security and peace of mind for safety.ConsLimited number of practice/live rounds with initial purchase. Both practice and live rounds seem expensive. Not ideal to carry considering sizeThe package came earlier than expected and everything came in great shape. I wanted to find protection for when I move out but wasn’t entirely comfortable/willing to go through the process of buying a firearm. Considering this can disable an intruder and doesn’t have as many strings attached as a conventional firearm, I would highly recommend this product for those who want security and peace of mind.

    Haven’t needed to use it

Bought some practice rounds and it works pretty well sounds like it packs quite the wallet the only problem that I have with this item is actually how it’s posted on Amazon it is very difficult to find the ammunition for this product as well as the compressed air so it’s a good airsoft gun it’s accurate and like I said it packs a wallop hit the target pretty damn hard and the powder that was in it dispersed all over the place so if you shot someone center Mass you know it should get them in the face keywords should I haven’t tested this out on a person but yeah getting a hold of the right size ammo of the pepper spray or the practice rounds was a bit difficult and then getting the compressed air that you need for the airsoft gun was also hard to get the right type if they uploaded this with links as well as a package I think that would be a much better setup than it currently is

    Awful gun, and awful company!

If I can give 0 stars for this product I will. And if I can give a negative stars of the company I will. This gun was defective out of the box, wasted a lot of my time and several co2 cartridges. This gun would not pressurize correctly and at the end it won’t fire at all. I certainly would not want to depend my life having an unreliable pepper spray gun. What is the point of having it if it’s unreliable? What if you heard someone broke in your house, you grabbed this gun loaded with pepper spray paintballs, and went on to confront the burglar. You aimed this gun at the burglar and tried to pressurize the gun with the co2. The gun won’t pressurize and you are staring at the burglar with a dead gun, what do you do now? You just got yourself in a very tight situation. You better hope the burglar will just run away. What if they don’t and start charging you? You have a dead gun that won’t fire. You are now screwed. For $349, I expected a reliable good quality dependable pepper spray gun. Nope, this gun failed on all criteria. So now for the company, Salt Supply, I have contacted them several time for the past 2 weeks trying to return this defective gun. They have been unresponsive and dragged this return for so long that it has wasted so much of my time trying to communicate with them. They claimed they did not get my messages, they wanted me to call their repair department first, and most of the time they just did not reply. It was a horrible experience dealing with this company. So I just contacted Amazon and filed a claim against them, I had enough. Do not tell me I did not warn you, I would not recommend this gun at all, and I highly would not recommend buying it from this company. Awful awful experience.

Makes a single mom feel more secure

I have never been and advocate for guns but the world just seems like it’s getting crazier and crazier. I am a single mother of three and wanted to make sure I could protect my home and my family if need be but will still worried about having a gun in the home. When I came across this I felt like it was the best of both worlds. It arrived yesterday and my oldest and I were surprised at how”real” it looked and felt, outside of the bright yellow color that is. It is super simple to operate everything is clearly marked. And I was pleasantly surprised at the force with which the practice rounds exploded LOL. It did not come with the CO2 canister necessary to fire it but a quick trip to Walmart fixed that. All in all I am happy with the purchase. I hope I never have to use it but I feel better knowing that is is there.

Because somehow I woke up and the World went crazier…

So, I looked at this a long time back and thought it was kind of mean but not lethal hulked out version of a paintball gun and that’s what it is and I wasn’t really going to spend money on this but then I woke up one day and the World went kind of crazy around me, so suddenly it didn’t seem that expensive? Make sure you order the C02 cartridge as it does not come with one. I like the feature that the C02 isn’t engaged until the safety is off and the trigger pulled for the first time. So the first trigger pull will NOT fire a round, but simply engage the C02 cartridge, with subsequent trigger pulls delivering rounds, so be aware of that. But it means you can load and store for a long time without worrying about the propellant gas leaking out of the C02 cartridge as it will all similar products. Construction is durable and grip is comfortable and solid. Only thing is in future designs, I’d like the ammunition magazine to incorporate a fresh C02 cartridge as well, so that you can reload and fire as some of the other competing products do. But this is not, in my opinion, a deal breaker, as if you are actually going to use this in a real world situation for self defense and expecting to go through several mags then you probably shouldn’t be using a product like this for self defense. Like any other self-defense product, this should be a tool at your disposal to buy you time to escape the situation or to ratchet up your response level. Hope they make enough toilet paper and hand sanitizers so I can sell this on ebay as a novelty/nostalgia item of crazier times when I’m older and grayer.

I’ve never liked the CO2 options since the canisters leak

I am not a fan of guns, and have 3 young children in my household, so I’ve been looking for an effective, non-lethal protection option for my home. This, to, me, fits that bill. I’ve never liked the CO2 options since the canisters leak, but with this, the CO2 cartridge is always full-strength-ready since it isn’t pierced until the first trigger-pull. That was selling point #1 for me. Plus, the idea of shooting pepper-spray that is proven effective in decapacitaing people was selling point #2. The fact that I can protect myself, or at least somewhat control a situation to some extent, without having to worry about the legalities, killing someone, permanently harming someone, my kids getting killed, etc. was selling point #3. The gun itself is quite easy to handle–not that heavy, easy to control. No real kick-back upon firing. Noise level is low. Accuracy is far better than I had expected, and is better than the 2-cartridge paintball gun I bought for my son a while ago. Having practiced blasting my trees and various objects in my yard, I am comfortable that I can easily control the gun, fire accurately, and rapidly, and disburse the pepper-spray where it needs to be…and heck,, I’m not going to shoot just ONCE… 🙂 with 7 shots in a cartridge, I need not be THAT accurate to be effective, and that’s not even counting the fact that close-range paintballs HURT..I hope to never have to use it for why I purchased it, but I am comfortable that if I THINK I’m in danger, and I grab this gun, I’ll be more comfortable and confident facing whatever comes my way..

I keep trying to return it and they’re saying it’s non-refundable. I can hear the Air coming out when I put in the air tank. It’s a bad product, don’t buy it. They’re thieves, fighting to keep my money.

OMG! I fired off the practice rounds to test this gun. I can’t believe the velocity. I would not want to be hit in the face with that gun dummy rounds or pepper spray rounds. Only thing is its a little bigger than i thought although i didn’t really check. I wasn’t expecting to be able to carry in my pocket. But this is a great gun to have in your car. If you don’t want a real gun this is way way WAY better than nothing.

    Powerful Gun

Just got it in the mail and tried it out with the practice rounds. Very powerful shots n super easy to use. I’d be terrified by just getting hit with the practice rounds let alone the pepper balls. If you shot someone in the throat or n eye they definitely would be done, lots off power. It’s a little big but it’s definitely a surprising factor for someone trying to hurt you. Great product!

BAD for self defense as it is unreliable and Salt knows about the issue

I just want to explain to all females considering purchasing this product what happened and why this gun is inherently dysfunctional. I just got ff the phone with Cory, a tech at the company. I installed cartridges on August 23rd. Worked great- shot it 3 times. put it on my nightstand and went to practice September 4th. Nothing happened. Replaced the air cartridge and still did not fire. So Cory explained that the cap sometimes does not puncture the cartridge. So then why would it not work when I already had a punctured cartridge? Well, he explains, air cartridges can go bad. SERIOUSLY? In 2 weeks? So if I am depending upon this as I would a gun, I constantly have to check to see if it is firing? Do you know how much that would cost? I am done. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I spent over $400 with accessories.

Does not come with everything. Kind of expensive

I have not actually shot this yet. I got it in today and took it to the person I bought it for and when we opened it there was not a CO2 cartridge with it. This cost more than the last real gun that I bought. I figured that for the price it would come with everything we need to use it. It could have said some place that the Co2 was not included. Maybe I over looked it but they should send you some with it. The replacement practice balls are very expensive too. I should have just bought the paint ball version.

Overpriced paintball gun but works well

So, at the time of this review (Feb 2019) the price of this gun and of the TippX are basically the same, considering you need the pepper pellets from Salt and they cost 50 bucks for a box with 10. So this kit gets what you need for your home defense needs. I bought .68 caliber paintballs to practice beyond the 10 practice rounds that come in this box and you can see well the power of this gun. It shots far enough (50 meters-ish) and at close range you can see that just the impact would hurt already. DO NOT FORGET TO BUY CO2, your local walmart will have boxes of 15 cylinders for 12 bucks or so. The gun has safety button to keep it from shooting accidentally and it’s light and without kickback. The yellow one is a much better choice for me because it does look like a paintball gun and would not be easily mistaken by a real gun police or forest rangers. Thankfully I didn’t need to use for self-defense yet but I feel confident it will do the job when the time comes.

spring tension release in ammo magazin could jam

The media could not be loaded.

All over is that a very good alternative non-lethal self defense gun. Very powerful and pretty accurate up to 10 yards. This gun is definitely NOT a Toy! Recommending to perform some practice shootings to learn about that gun and how it handles. Hard rubber practice rounds, Cal. .68, – also available in bulk at Amazon (paint-ball size) Ensure to use high performance 12g CO2 cartridges. The first 7 powerful shots definitely will do some damage to target when using a fresh CO2 cartridge. 13-16 shots per CO2 cartridge. Ammo rounds fire with extreme high velocity, the kinetic impact alone could be pretty painful w/o lethal consequences. Adding a laser onto the standard size picatinny rail will improve and add accuracy when shooting further distance targets.

New ones have a different design and looks like they break open differently

    1) Due to New York State laws (not the suppliers fault) but this item cannot be shipped to a New York Resident. Having family and friends living outside of New York especially around New Jersey, Connecticut, or even Pennsylvania helps a lot. Have it shipped to them and then pick it up or have them meet you half way.2) The gun is huge! As stated on the site, Tippman is the company they work with to design the gun so it’s the same as their paintball guns.3) The rounds I received are the old model. New ones have a different design and looks like they break open differently.4) This gun has some serious range and power. Definitely a big plus.5) The clip doesn’t secure the rounds too well, they fall out easily or jam the gun so be careful.6) Once the CO2 is punctured you pretty much have 24 hours to use it, so be sure not to puncture and store the gun. I always place the CO2 into the gun but never hit the trigger as the first trigger pull punctures the CO2 and the second trigger fires the round.7) You must hold down the trigger and wait for the shot to be fired.

    Great non-lethal option

I own traditional firearms but was looking for something I could keep in my toy-hauler when camping in congested areas during my kid’s mx race weekends. I also wanted something to lend to my elderly parents for their road trips or to use when some of the neighborhood   undesirables break into the garage to siphon gas or steal dirt bike parts. For me, the SALT gun does not replace a traditional gun, however, I like having it as a non-lethal option for certain circumstances. The SALT gun is rather large for my hands, but it is lightweight. Although there is room for improvement, and it is pricey (for a paintball gun), I’m still giving it 5 stars as it is the only thing in the market like it. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

    Home defense done right.

I was so excited to see the UPS guy roll up today because I was counting down the days for my SALT gun to arrive. Besides being a little irked that the case wasn’t sturdier or have cut-outs in the foam, I’m overall very happy I bought this. The gun looks amazing in person. It’s substantial without being bulky and is very intimidating to look at. A potential home invasion may be stopped just when they see you aiming this at their head. If it isn’t… well you’ve read what pepper spray does. It’s not pretty. To round things out, I bought an undermount flashlight (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SYXYM4K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the thing looks sweet. I feel 100% better about being able to protect my family now that I have this as a better first option.

CO2 Cartridge leaks – so doesn’t function after about 10 seconds

Purchased this and was largely impressed, until I loaded it. The biggest issue is that the cartridges (which are not included) have thus far not worked for me. They tell you that a single CO2 cartridge should last for 21 shots – I haven’t been able to get out more than 5 before it loses power – because the cartridge starts leaking as soon as I pull the trigger the first time (you can hear it leaking) – not only does that make the gun useless, it also means that you’re never going to be able to sneak up on anyone as it hisses.I would also say that it’s disappointing that the magazine is a total mess if you don’t shoot all the rounds – in my case, because the cartridge didn’t empty, I opened the magazine and the balls I had placed in it came bouncing out all over the place. I expected it to be more like a real gun where the ammo stays safely secured in the magazine or gun – so beware that your pepperballs may fall all over the place when you attempt to service this gun.I’ve reached out to SaltSupply to attempt to get support for the leak – posting this in case I don’t hear back from them (At which point I’ll be returning this thing). Hopefully they stand behind their product as indicated in all the materials online.

This thing is huge. Don’t plan to carry it with you.

Very accurate and high velocity. It’s just way to big. This thing is the size of a desert eagle. If you plan to try and conceal one of these I’d go with a different one.

A nice edition for home protection

A nice edition for home protection. Feels solid and shoots great! I needed a non-lethal weapon for times that call for non-lethal action (and yes I have firearms for what we never want to face). This fit the bill. It can also shoot .68 caliber hard rubber balls which hurt like hell so you don’t have to waste the practice rounds, but I suggest learning from those practice rounds to visually see how your gun will shoot with the pepper/tear gas ‘bullets’. They weigh different than the rubber bullets. This gun fits a certain niche I was looking for.

    Best alternate to lethal

You will not be disappointed at the stopping power and ease of shooting with incredible accuracy at a good distance

    It’s what it says.

It’s what it’s supposed to be, a rare and handy item in this day and age😉
