Scout is an easy-to-use moving camera robot. It is also an open-source ROS robotic development platform. Some advanced features can be complex for some people. Before ordering, please read the user manual and FAQ on this product detail page to understand its capability and limitation.
Can I see the video remotely?
The Moorebot Scout App allows you to monitor your home from anywhere in the world up to 1080P image quality on both Android and IOS devices. Two-way voice is also supported. Scout must be set up on your Home Wi-fi network to enable this feature.
How do I charge? How long will Scout work before needing to recharge?
Scout requires a USB 2.0 Type A adapter with 5V / >2A output. Scout is not compatible with USB Type C fast chargers. The battery can last over 2 hours, 1 hour using night vision, and will take up to 3 hours to charge from a completely depleted state.
How to set up patrol?
Scout doesn’t scan and build map due to privacy reasons. It follows pre-programmed path by user using Scout’s App. Open space has higher chance to complete patrol. If too many obstacles, the bot could give up and try to return to the charger.
Why can’t I connect to the robot?
When first power up, the bot is in WiFi direct mode. You should see a WiFi hotspot, “robot_scout_xxx”. Connect to it with password “r0123456”. Do a reset if not working. IOS users need to grant permission to Scout App and may need set airplane mode.
How to achieve better navigation accuracy?
OTA update to the latest firmware. Calibrate the sensors from time to time, from App setup section. Consider to convert to Track version using 3D printer or model E. The track mechanic files are loaded on this detail page, download section.

Awesome little robot
I am surprised by this little robot in many ways. The premium quality of the bot itself is very good. It’s tiny, but it’s a heavy little thing with quality materials with no cheap plastic parts. The video feed is crisp and clear with almost no butter or frame rate freezing. I have my feed in 1080p and it’s consistent and steady. A lot of these negative reviews are from people with bad internet connection. It’s not the product, it’s just bad connection. Also bonus points for the store having add on parts for cats who will absolutely love it.In short, high quality and really useful product but you need to have good internet or else this won’t work well for you.

Neat little robot buddie for specialized uses
I got this robot mainly for getting visuals in hard-to-reach places, such as under the car, under the bed, etc. I can see this robot coming in very handy in those situations. Instead of crawling on the ground trying to get some botched view, I can simply send this in. As a car guy, this will be super useful in checking the undercarriage condition of my vehicles. I have not used the patrol feature. I’ve seen reviews saying that it doesn’t work that well, but I have no intention of using this robot for patrolling the house at night so it doesn’t bother me much. I don’t have very high expectations of AI anyways. I’m of the opinion that they are still a few years too early before becoming very useful.

Good for tech geek
Awesome little robot, it is fun and really easy to use. The setup was very easy as well, it connects to my phone and wifi no problem. Controlling the robot is also easy, it’s very fun because I can make it drift lol. Into the security part of this, I think this is very sophisticated. I setup a path for the robot to go through every time I ask it to, I can also set it as a motion sensor and have the siren rings when it detects motion (you can actually set it to exclude different motions such as your pets). Speaking of pets, our dogs are very curious about this little robot and would try to play with it every time the robot is moving. Overall, I think the image recognition on the robot is very nice because it can automatically return to it’s home once it detects the checkered label on the home. I haven’t tried this feature yet, but it looks like you can setup your own automation by using the drag and drop feature from the software. 🙂

Exceeded Expectations
I got this so that I can check on things when I am away from home. Having a roaming camera is one of the best purchases that I have made.If you are wanting this to patrol your house without you controlling it, you might be a little disappointed. It does work but has a hard time with complex patrolling paths. But, if you are like me and just want the ability to check things out in your house while you are away, it’s great. Especially if you have pets that you want to check on or just want to see if you remembered to shut a door or not. I was even able to use this to shut a door that my kids had forgot to shut, from a state away.I have already shown this and recommended this to a lot of people.

Not even close to ready.
The main reason for buying the Scout was for the advertised 2 way ommunications. Well if you’re laying on the floor with your head about a foot away from the Scout you can hear what the other person is saying. if you stand up you cannot understand a single word. Moorebot disabled volume control and said it would be reenabled soon. That was a year ago still no volume control. They completely hosed two way communications by leaving the speaker volume so ridiculously low.Another major problem is with night vision. If it’s on the Scout cannot dock because the IR emitters wash out the pattern on the charging station.Edit:I figured out the docking problem with night vision on. I had the charging station against a very dark background. I put a piece of cardboard behind the charging station. The patern was no longer getting washed out by the IR emitters and the Scout was able to dock. Went from 1 star to 3. Would give 5 stars if the speaker volume could be raised enough to understand what was being said.

Fun with robotics
My son loves this. He plays for hours and hours with it. Very simple download of an app, we charged it up, and he was off and running. When we are gone, he monitors the house with his robot, so he doesn’t have to even leave his room. I love the clarity of the video, and it’s fun to have a two way conversation with it. Very well made and the wheels don’t let any surface slow you down. Very well made for the cost. Highly Recommend.

Fun and mobile security
Overall a great deal, however mine has a few issues. The battery is dead within an hour & it never has been able to park on the charger by itself. You also need to really know how to program this ai truck, it’s not dummy proof. But Overall it serves it’s purpose.

Latest firmware made a significant difference, there’s hope.
Update: Whistles have stopped, and connectivity is much more stable since the latest firmware update. Path patrol is still poor, but it’s a neat remote control mobile camera and robotic programming base for the newly lowered price.Constantly whistles during the night if it loses WiFi connectivity, which it does very often. You have to physically press a button on the device to restore connectivity! So much for scouting while you’re away. The patrol path following doesn’t work more than ten feet away, and less if you make a turn.Fully disappointing.

Best robot I have ever had
By far this is the best remotely controlled robot I have ever had. It was worth every penny I spent. It is not flimsy cheap plastic junk; instead very sturdy, solid build. It’s pleasantly heavy. I felt the quality when I first touched it. Picture quality is also top-notch. Better than on my baby monitor. Remote control + build-in programs + and tasks that could be programmed manually are incredibly fun. Even thou I bought it for my son this is a fantastic high-end robot toy for the entire family including our dog. Very very impressive.

Follow instructions exactly, connects anytime from anywhere. Setup is tough. But super stable after, haven’t had a issue in 1 year. 0 issues!!!!Battery is ammmzinng, insane product for the price. I use it to check up on my cats when I’m not home.Audio works well, as does Mic.It’s not perfect, but then again it’s not $1600…Negatives;Eco on phone side when using mic and audio at same timeWish camera point down so slightly.Return to base, I help the robot then it parks itself. But it works great!

Extremely Dissatisfied and Unsafe for Children
I recently purchased the Moorebot Scout – Tiny AI-Powered Smart Camera Mobile Robot with high hopes of enhancing home security and monitoring capabilities. Unfortunately, this product turned out to be a major disappointment, and I would strongly advise against purchasing it, especially if you have children in your household.First and foremost, the so-called “smart” AI capabilities of this robot are severely lacking. The human and pets recognition feature is incredibly unreliable and often fails to accurately identify individuals or animals. This undermines the very purpose of having a monitoring device in the first place, as it cannot be trusted to reliably alert you to potential threats or activities.Additionally, the integration with popular voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home is clunky and inconsistent. The promised seamless compatibility is nothing but false advertising. Setting up the device to work with these assistants is a frustrating and time-consuming process, and even when successfully connected, the commands are frequently misunderstood or ignored. One of the most concerning aspects of the Moorebot Scout is its lack of safety features, particularly when it comes to children. The FWD Mecanum Wheels, while touted as a selling point, actually pose a significant risk in a household with young kids. The robot’s unpredictable movements and lack of obstacle detection make it a hazard, as it can inadvertently collide with furniture or, worse, cause harm to a child who might be in its path. Moreover, the night vision capability of this smart camera is extremely disappointing. The quality of the recorded footage in low-light conditions is grainy, blurry, and practically unusable. Considering that a significant portion of monitoring and security needs arise during nighttime, the poor night vision renders the device almost useless in those situations.Lastly, the auto patrol and docking feature, which is supposed to provide convenience and efficiency, falls far short of expectations. The robot frequently gets stuck or disoriented, often failing to return to its charging dock or losing its way during scheduled patrols. This unreliability defeats the purpose of having an autonomous monitoring device and leaves you questioning its overall effectiveness. In conclusion, I strongly advise against purchasing the Moorebot Scout – Tiny AI-Powered Smart Camera Mobile Robot. Its unreliable AI capabilities, lackluster integration with voice assistants, absence of safety features for children, poor night vision, and overall unreliability make it an incredibly frustrating and potentially hazardous product. Look elsewhere for a more reliable and child-friendly home monitoring solution.

what a cool gadget!
I’m absolutely thrilled with this little guy! The remote control via the app provides seamless monitoring from anywhere. The picture quality is outstanding, capturing sharp and clear images. Its night vision capability ensures reliable surveillance around the clock. Whether it’s keeping an eye on pets, elderly family members, or enhancing security, this camera robot is a fantastic all-in-one solution that brings peace of mind and convenience to a whole new level.

Tiny & capable AI-powered robot for home monitoring but with not the best cameras!
The media could not be loaded.
The idea of monitoring the home from anywhere is good to have and gives a sense of relief when you are out of the home. I would recommend having such a robot in any smart mid to large-sized home if the wallet permits. Overall it is fun to have this robot monitoring toy in the home. Here are my 2 cents after trying it for a week:Pros:- It functions very well as a home monitoring robot- Along with the camera, it is loaded with multiple sensors like IR lighting, light along with a mic & speakers on it – The robot is onboarded with 8GB eMMC internal storage for saving the pictures and recording locally. They do have a cloud service but it is paid version with $3.99 per month or $39.99 annually – Great build quality and feels premium overall- View is wide-angle (120 degrees) and has very good coverage – 4 wheel drive with mecanum wheels really does a wonderful job. The robot can move sideways on any surface like a crabwalk. And, it seems to be working well on most of the small obstructions. It rarely gets stuck – AI detection of human beings seems to be working pretty well in my experience- Can be used for 2-way talk as well remotely – Very easy to use and operate- Glad that it has the feature to go back to the charging station by itself, so you don’t have to worry about charing it manually – Programming mode in the app opens up immense opportunities to configure the events if you are into that. It is graphical too so not much knowledge is needed to start – The mobile app was easy to connect to and has tons of features- It has multiple setting options (Please refer to my attached pictures). Control to select the different detection in motion and sensitivity settings as per your needs- Did not try with google home but it works great with Alexa voice commands without any delay. Shows up live feeds on the echo show devices too – Robot itself is very tiny in size and does not takes up much floor space in the home – It has the capability to connect to both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi networks, which is rare to see in smart devices – This robot looks very cool. Loved the design elements and primarily the wheels – My kid thinks it is a toy and seems to be picking it up and bringing it to us all the time. It is definitely fun to play with it – They do bundle an extra charging station stick pad along with lubricant for tires Cons:- Picture quality is not the best I have seen in cameras, especially when it is dark or there is direct light on the lens. I wish it had better cameras in it – Price: These are not cheaper. At this cost, you have many other competitive options to monitor home- Robot takes a really long time to back to the charging station, even when it is very near to the base- It did lose the way sometimes even when on a pre-defined patrol path – The application in my iPhone12 by default loads in the landscape view and whatsoever I try, never able to turn it into portrait mode – Not waterproof like many other electronics, so consider this while deciding on the scout’s base station in the home- Small thing but it does not come with the power adapter in the package, so make sure you have one at home when you order these

Cool Tech Gadget
The concept is great, but expensive for its limited capabilities. In comparison, a Ring indoor camera is far more affordable and offers superior video quality while remaining completely stationary or optionally, remotely controlled.Video resolution is okay, movement controls are sensitive, and it has difficulty returning to the base station on its own. The wheels lacked traction on my simulated hardwood floors, were surprisingly very audible during operation, and overall speed is limited. It’s fun nonetheless if you’re into RC devices, enjoy surveillance, and like the idea of somewhat enhanced home security. It’s fun for all ages, but easily becomes an afterthought after a few runs with its limited features. See if it’s right for you!I’d suggest trying it out if you’re at all interested, but be mindful that

Cool design, perfect gift
Now I can see what’s going on in my house at any time, I definitely recommend buying it to anyone who has children or pets at home. The robot is autonomous and comes to charge itself. cool wheels allow it to move well both on tiles and on high-pile carpet. The high-resolution camera provides high-quality images even in the dark. many convenient modes, access from a mobile phone at any time. You can not just watch what is happening, but thanks to the built-in microphone you can also carry on a conversation. Well, what a cool bonus to this – you have a simply gorgeous controllable machine, with high sensitivity and a cool design. Definitely suitable as a gift for husband.

Needs work
I’ve had this for about 8 months and here we are at the end of 2023. I got this to keep track of my house while I’m gone. My issues are mainly it drops connection to the wireless when it’s less than 2 feet away from the wireless AP. None of my other devices or wifi attached things do that. It can’t find it’s way back to the charger. Both my robot vacs can do this…. Ok privacy reasons. Ok I get that but I should be able to flip a switch, check a box or accept some agreement. Look it’s a fun toy but needs a bit of work. When I’m across the country trying to explore my house and it disconnects from the wifi and doesn’t seem to try to reconnect. No,not a dead zone or a bad AP. It’s like Google. They get 85% of the way there then call it good enough. Yes it has the latest firmware.

It’s So Cool but flaws.
It’s a great remote surveillance bot. You can control it when you are away from the location. The patrol feature is horrible. It keeps loosing the path and never completes its journey. I wish it could alert me on my phone or alexa show when it detects motion but it cannot. Over all its great when you control it manually. Please improve this product. It is great.

Fun toy for tech minded adults
I had some trouble connecting directly to the robot. It’s quite complex and the instructions could be better. Here are the detailed steps for an Android cell phone or tablet.1. Fully charge the robot until you have four solid blue LEDs. Very important – don’t be impatient like me2. Download and install the Moorebot app while you’re waiting for the robot to charge3. Turn the scout on by holding the power button until the power light comes on4. Wait for it to boot – about 30 seconds. It makes a cute ready sound when it has booted.5. Make sure it is in direct connect mode. Press the button on the opposite side from the power button so the left LED is lit. It should be lit by default. It has a rectangular icon next to it.5. Open the app and click on [Connect to the Scout’s WiFi]. This opens the WiFi settings app.6. The WiFi settings app lists available networks, find and select the one called robot-scout-xxxxx. The default password is r01234567. The connection should say “Connected, no internet”8. If your device won’t connect, try turning your phone’s WiFi off and back on again. I had to do this.9. Close settings and return to the Scout App. You see a message that says the Scout network is running10. Click [Next]11. This takes you to a page with [Monitor], [Patrol], and [Program] buttons. You now have direct control of the robot over short distances with line-of-sight.This page has a book icon in the top left corner which opens the user manual. This page also has a settings icon in the top right corner. Click this to enable control over your WiFi network.1. On the settings page, click on Set up WiFi Router Mode2. Chose the WiFi connection you want to use3. Enter the WiFi password (yes, I know, I don’t like it either. It has a camera, why can’t I just point it at my router’s bar code?)4. Click [Next]5. The robot now connects to the selected WiFi. It works better on my 2.4GHz network than my 5GHz one.You can now control the robot from anywhere as long as it stays in range of your router.Hope this helps.Oh yes – it’s a lot of fun. But it has the AI capabilities of a jelly bean. Watching it try to dock is a laugh. Patrol mode is a joke too. It can only start a patrol from the charging station. But as it can never dock with the charging station you can’t do a second patrol. The charging pins are on the back of the robot so it visually tries to line up with the charger, then turns around and backs up. The turn-around maneuver is not accurate enough, so it always misses. It’s hilarious. Why aren’t the charging contacts on the front?

I like this alot – but needs some tweaks
This does work and it is really cool but it could use some design changes. Most notably I found that my unit doesn’t dock properly. It either has to do with the height of the dock or maybe one of the contacts on the robot is too recessed – not sure will experiment. The robot when docking has to turn 180 degrees and back into the dock. If the two power contacts don’t engage the robot continually pivots back and forth hoping to connect which it hasn’t yet after 3 tries. I’ve had to manually position it on the dock in order for it to connect to the power contacts. Might just be a matter of adding tape on the floor adjacent to the dock – not sure at this point.Another thing: don’t drive your robot off somewhere into the house and expect it to dock automatically. In order to dock you have to drive the unit back to the dock so it’s clearly visible on your cellphone otherwise it simply won’t find it’s way back.EDIT: Been using it for a while and it’s reliably docking. Quite impressed.

The Ghost Hunter’s Best Friend
I just got the Moorebot Scout and it’s been so much fun playing with it. I use it to keep an eye on my pets while I’m out and it works great. The AI-powered camera is super cool and I love how I can control it from my phone. I’ve been using it to follow my dog around the house (he even likes to play with it too) and it’s hilarious. I also like the patrol feature, it gives me peace of mind knowing it’s keeping an eye on my place. One of the best things about it is that you can use it for entertainment and security. My friends love it too, we’ve been using it for our own little ghost hunt in the basement. It also has this cool programming feature that lets you create your own paths for it to follow. It’s a great way to unleash your creativity and I can’t wait to see what else I can make it do.

More useful than initially expected
Got this to feel at home while being away from home. Sure, does feel nice to take a look around. Then I went to explore under my bed to find a hoard of toys my cat stashed away. I spent a good 20 minutes directing my Moorebot around to push her toys out as she curiously watched.I brought the Moorebot to work one day. I stashed it under my desk and got to explore my private office during the late hours of the night.I Used the Moorebot with my nieces and nephew to do some ghost hunting in the basement from upstairs. They really loved the thrill! The Moorebot scout has lots of potential. Not so much for security, but for utility and fun! I am very happy with my purchase. I am really looking forward to Moorebot (hopefully) releasing some attachments. I’d like to be able to use this to sweep up dust under my bed.

Great Robot Provides Peace of Mind
This robot has been a great hit in my household. It provides peace of mind for when I am not at home by being able to monitor a variety of rooms in the house.Charge-up and set-up were a breeze and the robot was up and running in no time. The robot is made of quality materials, controls are intuitive, and it is easy to maneuver around the house. The tracking feature is also very cool. The camera is clear and I can monitor everything well. This is exactly what I was looking for to satisfy my security needs. It also is useful for other random issues, like my pesky fridge. The fridge has been leaking periodically; now I can monitor it remotely and if there is a problem I can get back home quickly and address it.And on top of all of this the robot is fun to use! Very happy with my purchase!

Super Fun, High Tech and Durable
I bought this small little robot for my son on his birthday a couple of months go, but I became obsessed with it. It took me a while to figure out how to set it up, but I finally did it. I am fascinated with its features and capabilities. Although it is a little small, it is durable. In fact, it fell down the stairs a few times, but never broke or scratched. The battery life is dissent and can last long before I had to recharge it. It honestly, makes me laugh when I see the kids and the dog chase after this small little toy. Thanks to Moorebot Scout, I was able to locate where the mice sneak into the apartment. Seriously, I love it and I strongly recommend it.

It’s still a toy, and not a fun one
Update: after reading my review, the customer support took my concern th the engineers, and promised a full refund. Great! In photo1 is a recording of a pattern that takes the robot around my downstairs, which My roomba recorded in photo 2. If it worked correctly, the red dot would be in the green 1/2 circle, which means I was able to create a track for it to follow, and of which, it could repeat. The checkerboard pattern in the picture would be its base. However, I have been unable to create a repeatable pattern in over 20 attempts. This robot has the tech to make the pattern that roomba did, but the company won’t do it, so the robot isn’t ready. Wait for the next company, iRobot or Amazon to make something. Don’t waste your money on this. Not worth it.

Not even close to staying on path
Bought this to drive on a set path. Its so far off from it. It is in the general path but plus or minus a couple of feet on either side of it which gets it in trouble. It EASILY gets “lost” and has no reliable way for getting back on path. Its had problems finding the mounted base…to the point i just have to physically put it on the base.Im sure its good for someone…but this thing isnt good for me. Definitely needs a lot more work to it to be ready for market.

A smart addition to home
The media could not be loaded.
This robot has a sturdy structure and a multitude of uses. The setup was quick and the instructions were clear. It is easily controlled over the phone and I quickly got the hang of the mobile controls. The mobile controlled robot is both a fun gadget to play and experiment with, as well as a useful remotely controlled camera, almost like a portable surveillance camera. My kids and I enjoyed playing around with the controls and maneuvering the robot around the house. It can travel across a variety of surfaces including high pile rugs.I can also use it as a way to see what’s going on in the house when I’m out, and what my dog is doing when he is left at home alone. It’s a fantastic, adaptive little piece of machinery. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to like this…
I really wanted to like this but I cannot in good conscience recommend it. I tried to find the docking station a number of times and it only did so 1 out of ten times or so. I was so happy when it found it I thought for sure all problems were solved. Nope. One of the wheels fell off completely when I tried to put on the tracking kit which you had to pay extra for…which was also annoying. My guess is I was sold a “new”one that was only kind of new…. Which would explain the cheap shrink wrap.

I have had this product for about a week now and I am very happy with it. It was easy to set up and travels well on rugs, carpet, hardwood floors etc. Both of my kids in middle school also found it very easy to operate. Both kids stated that it would be cool if you could zoom in with the camera. They were able to sneak up to their grandparents this weekend and talk to them while we were running errands. I left it off the charger over night after a full charge and it lasted 9 hours before it beeped that it needed charged. I like this product and my parents are also considering buying one. I recommend this product.

Not a bad idea but not worth the price
This is an interesting product but i don’t believe it’s worth the purchase. You need coding experience to properly utilize for automation, the charging is hit or miss and the overall operation isn’t very user friendly.

Just Amazing
Great smart robot for home surveillance. I bought this robot to keep an eye on my house while I’m away and it honestly has been a great experience. All you have to do is download their app that way you can connect the robot to your phone and you can always have an eyesight if your home while your away. I highly recommend buying this product if you are looking for some kind of surveillance inside your home. Overall pretty impressive for what I got especially for the low price.

A Great Scout Robot
It looks like a small version of Sherp, the oversized wheels from Europe. Definitely a man’s toy. Solid. Pretty cool to have the four wheel drive for this size. The setup is relatively easy. The manual and the FAQ are detailed enough. Some tips are quite useful. I haven’t tried the programming yet. They mentioned extension tools. Love to see more add-ons. I found the WiFi is not strong compared to my other gadgets. It gives up patrol if too many obstacles but seems OK in open spaces. The image is a little bit dark. No problem recognizing my dog in daylight and night vision. Should have software to let the bot chase the dog. Anyhow, I had a lot of fun. Good job!

Can’t beat it for the value
I have multiple pets at home that I like to monitor, the Moorebot Scout does an amazing job at me being able to surveil them. The only reason why I docked it a star is because the charger design is somewhat faulty. It is difficult for it to connect to charge at times. Overall, I definitely recommend it!

This gadget is really cool, I cannot stress enough how entertaining this thing is.
This product is absolutely amazing if you own a cat, the latency is actually very good you can control it remotely. My cat was initially scared by it but once she saw that it wasn’t a threat she follows it around and is very curious about it. You can also talk to through it and the volume is quite loud. The only problem is that you cannot change the angle of the camera it can only look at about a 60 degree fov. Other than that it’s perfect with its omnidirectional wheels it can travel through my carpet and hardwood floors with ease. Only thing I do recommend is having the charges on a flat surface as it may not connect correctly if it is left on an fluffy surface.

One flaw..
This would have been a 5/5 review except for one small issue: the wheels. They have the special wheels for the Scout to “crawl” sideways. They are very unique but not very efficient if using the Scout to patrol at speed. I track my pet during the night and interact remotely. The Scout is a bit slow with these special tread wheels.Other than that one issue, this is an awesome STEM project for coding/programming. The interface is clean. The controls are responsive, even over Wi-Fi.Would recommend.

Works Great – Clear Picture
I got this product to be able to check in on our cat while we are away from home. It took me about 10 minutes to set up and it has worked great. The picture is clear, and it’s very mobile and hasn’t gotten stuck anywhere. I would recommend this product for keeping an eye on any pets while away.

Company quick to help with problems
I purchased this recently and it did not perform like it said from the start. It would not program and setup. The company helped me to resolve the issue. Quick to send a refund.

Was 1000 miles away from home. Lost power for short time, never reconnected.
Was pretty bummed out when we lost power to our house down south for just an hour that this didn’t reconnect to the wifi once power went back on. Battery life is pretty good and was fully charged when power was temporarily lost, buy this just didn’t want to reconnect. I remotely reset my router and still nothing. after 4 months, I made it back down south and saw it just sitting in it’s docking station fully charged… So it was charged and on (infrared was working), yet it just refused to connect to the router. Only when I physically reset it with a pin did it want to finally connect. Never got a chance to show it off, bummer.

Nice fun toy!
Very cool robot. Kids have tons of fun. Has a camera and “any direction” wheels. Motion sensor keeps it from getting stuck. Good battery life.

Saved Me From a Water Leak
I bought this device to monitor a remote residence. I would occasionally login and drive it around. One evening while looking around the first floor I noticed a puddle of water in the kitchen coming from the water cooler. I made a visual mental mark on the floor where the water was and checked back 10 min later and sure enough the puddle size increased! There was a full 5 gallons in the cooler which would have caused damage to my floor should the entire bottle leaked out. I immediately headed over to the other location and took the water cooler out of service averting a major headache and costs. The device paid for itself within the first two weeks.

Nice little robot
It’s small but sturdy. Very well made. It took me a min to understand controls but it works. I read some reviews talking about it doesn’t dock back to charger. That was true when it came out of box but there was an update in March. So after I updated it that issue got fixed. Right now I don’t have any complaints abt it.

Cool device!
Our family travels a lot so we purchased the Moorebot Scout to be our eyes and ears while we’re gone. We’ve used it for basic viewing of problem areas – like making sure our stove knobs aren’t on and to patrol the house for piece of mind. The children love talking to the guinea pigs while we’re away and we can monitor their hay situation to ensure the pet sitter is keeping them in good supply. Naturally, the kids try to steal the bot to spy on each other and think it is the coolest gadget ever; they even brag to their friends that they have a stealth surveillance robot at home…now all their friends want one! Oh boy. Excellent purchase for piece of mind while you’re away and we recommend it to everyone!

Fun to play with but…
I really like the scout. The remote control can be a finicky because it’s only as good as your tablet’s touch screen. The camera and night vision are what I’d expect for something in this price range. I have tile floors and regular shag carpet and scout gets around just fine, though the sideways movement on carpet is a little slow. The problems come in when trying to program a patrol path. I want it to go from one end of the ground floor to the other, that means a few sharp turns into the kitchen, bathroom, living room and then return to charger. I always try to keep him moving in the center of hallways and rooms to avoid running into anything, When the path is recorded and scout is sent out on automatic, he doesn’t stick to the path very well and almost always ends up against a wall or running into a doorway. I’ve tried over and over to program a path and set him on patrol in the same lighting conditions. Occasionally he can go and make it back, but only barely. Then the next attempt he gets hung up again. Also, when the path is established and saved the app always says he’s not in the green zone, even when almost up against the charger. I looked online for suggestions about setting up a path, but there is almost nothing.

Not bad, but many improvements needed.
Overall: Quality hardware, poor software and documentation. After tinkering with Scout for some days now, I identified many issues, including:#0: Insecure: WiFi password cannot contain any special characters (?!) + connection via router requires internet access even if not using any cloud features.#1: The Omni wheels are worthless, robot cannot repeat a pattern.#2: Tracks help with accuracy, but robot flips over upon facing ANY obstacle.#3: Recognition of charging station checkered ‘sign’ is a hit or miss if not really close.#4: No documentation on how to offload data from the robot without cloud subscription.#5: General lack of technical documentation by the vendor, including not sharing the most important enablers of expending their custom ROS, i.e. connectivity scheme. How i solved most of the issues:#1 & #2: Use track wheels without tracks, with double sided tape (see picture).#3: Standing a black background behind the charging station seems to help.#4: Utilizing dedicated GL.iNet router, with remote connectivity service, ‘expanding’ the router network to the world securely.Bottom line – not bad, but many improvements needed.

Docking Difficulties
I have another camera robot but it has trouble going over different surfaces at times. I wanted to try this out since it has a track and that part works really well going from tile to carpet. It’s fairly easy to steer around and although the camera isn’t great, it gets the job done.My biggest disappointment has been with the docking though. It has a really hard time docking, often doesn’t line up right, and most of the time I have to do it manually by picking it up, or if I’m out of the house and using it remotely, I have to try to back it in myself, which is really challenging.Hopefully some firmware updates in the future will fix that issue, but compared to my other robot this one needs a lot of work when it comes to the docking feature. My other robot (Ebo Air) always docks on its own…but it has its own challenges going between different surfaces.

Update to traction
I have tile floors, hardwood, and carpet with transitions between rooms. The units wheels are plastic and just slip and are too small to move from a room with tile to a room with hardwood. If it managed to get a wheel over, it got stuck. The unit lost connection at many random points in the house and became unresponsive for periods of time. The controls were jerky but I did not mess with the tweaks in the app that may have slowed down that tendency. The compact size is nice, but bigger wheels and rubber coatings for traction would be a better performer. Maybe a Morebot 2 in the future will correct that problem.Update bumped up stars to 4: the new version added tank tracks and is 100% better on traction, no issues on tile, carpet, or transitions. The firmware is continually tweaked and improved. Steering is still a bit jerky but manageable. The connection dropouts have been reduced but not eliminated.I would still like to see a vacuum robot type of patrol option with navigation but apparently that capability is limited due to privacy issues due to the camera. 🤷🏼♂️

Ok with some things to consider like the camera angle
I had trouble to switch the robot to Wi-Fi mode at first because I couldn’t connect to it directly. I had the vpn on my phone and for some reason that didn’t let me go through the set up and connect to it. The instructions just mentioned to put the phone on airplane mode but that didn’t work for me. After I disabled the VPN the set up was fine. The camera quality is ok but it depends on how much bandwidth you have available. If you have decent internet speeds in your home and if you’re connected to a good Wi-Fi network, quality is crystal clear. When I use 4G my phone carrier is bad but I can still connect to with lower image quality. The main issue for me was the camera angle that is always pointing up. Sometimes I need to look past a metal tray to check if it is clean but I can’t see.I also had to use the adhesive that comes with it in the box, because my animals would trip over it and then it wouldn’t be connected to the charging station anymore. As you can see in the pictures, if the connectors are not 100% touching each other, the unit won’t charge and the battery will die. I had that unpleasant surprise several times. The battery life is ok but I had to move to a place under a table to make sure it would be ready when I needed.Other than that it has been good to keep an eye on my animals when I’m not home.

Agile and can go places
The robot is pretty good in terms of navigating anywhere in the house but may not overcome any hurdles such as dog chew sticks if it gets stuck on it. The app is pretty intuitive which allows me to set a path to monitor my dog when I’m not around. It can go to different rooms and under my bed too which is nice. Only thing I wish was for a better camera for daylight, sometimes too much light can make it look dark even when it’s not.

Super fun
This mobile home camera is super fun. Video is clear and the device can roam in any directions. Sideways too. It comes with charging dock that I can tape to the floor. Comes with extra sticky tape to keep charging dock in place. I like the packaging presentation too!
