Gift for 15 year old son
My son loved it. It was a request for his bday. We made mac n cheese, buffalo burgers, coca-cola, cherry flavoring and bbq sauce. The bbq sauce was our favorite. You basically use part of the nuka-cola recipe, which wasn’t a huge hit.Mac cheese. I didn’t blend the carrots enough. My bad.The biggest issue is I spent a small fortune on all the ingredients I didn’t already have in my pantry….. which was just about all of the spices. And spices aren’t cheap. So do expect to have a large grocery bill. My sons birthday dinner was 3x the process of my daughters expensive take out. Worth it because it made him happy. But just an fyi!

Fantastic well thought out recipes!
This book is not a phoned in video game tie in. The recipes are well thought out and are very good! They vary in difficulty (with the actual difficulty listed), Cover a variety of different styles, and overall I must say of the ones I’ve tried – have all turned out excellent. If you have a decent knowledge of flavors and cooking, It only takes browsing a few of the recipes to realize that this is a serious cookbook with excellent recipes. If you imagine it as a vault dwellers cookbook that one carried with them into the wilds as they emerged from the vault-and then edited it for the materials available to “improvise”, you see the fallout tie in. It seems like a stretch at first until you remember the aesthetic of the game and the humor associated with it! Adding in the artwork and some of the “SPECIAL” ability perks for each recipe sells the point home for a fan. fan or no fan, these are excellent recipes from a great cookbook and is worth giving it a go. Recommended.

This book has made my teen boy LOVE to cook!
I bought this for my 14 yr old son for christmas. my house is full of cookbooks, and he has glanced through, but not shown much interest until we found this one… He had to make a dinner by himself for his home ec class and he chosethe burgers and the berry crumble out of this book…. The berry crumble has such a unique flavor with the spice blends they use, and the NukaCola BBQ sauce was a for sure winner.. in fact we had him make a quadrupla batch after dinner to keep in the fridge!!someone else in a review mentioned asian food… to me, a lot of the recipes feel more indian… they use a lot of spices that are not common, but also not hard to get (not available in the small town we live in, but thank you AMAZON!) nothing I’ve run across is out of the ordinary for us, I’m a bit of a foodie anyway. If you have a kid who loves this video game, or if you are just loking for a fresh spin on everyday recipes, this cookbook is a lot of fun! Thanks!!!!!!

Fun for a Fallout fan and kitchen enthusiast, not for everyone
Not a kid’s cookbook! Some challenging recipes and unusual ingredients make this better suited for a Fallout fan who is comfortable in the kitchen. That said, I love it. I play the game with my 20-something kids and I love making tasty wasteland related food items when they come over. A hard core collector would also appreciate this as it’s a well constructed book with cute art and anecdotes gracing the pages. I bought a second copy as a gift for one of my more kitchen centric offspring but the others wouldn’t make use of this.

Absolutely Buy This!
At the time of purchase, I had only played New Vegas and only recognized maybe a quarter of the recipe names. The actual recipes are styled such that it looks more like a Half-Blood Prince recipe book, with notes of Wasteland substitutions or anecdotes about where the found this recipe. So far, I’ve made:- Nuka-Cola syrup (5/5, prefer it mixed with soda instead of tonic water/ club soda)- Matcha Cookies (5/5, didn’t expect to like this because I don’t like green tea)- Mississippi Mud Pie (2/5, didn’t set for some reason, possibly high elevation issue. Did get to use it as ice cream topping as plan B)- Blue Cornbread Muffins (5/5, Possibly my favorite so far)- Iguana-on-a-Stick (5/5, It’s a kebab. What more can I say?)

Beautiful and fun book
I got this because I’m a fan of the games, not so much bc I like to cook. It’s mostly just for my nerdy video game cookbook collection but the recipes look pretty good. All in all, it’s a really pretty book that I love.

FANTASTIC so far
I’ve only made two things from this cookbook so far: Nuka Cola, and the Spiced ‘Mirelurk’ (Crab) Legs recipe. The Nuka Cola is a super interesting flavor. Very complex for a soda, and it works really well. I made it wrong, because for the browning sauce it didn’t seem right to use a salty, savory sauce in it, so I thought surely they must have meant the brown sugar-based browning sauce instead, and I couldn’t find that. So I used molasses. It still turned out great even if it wasn’t as dark as a normal cola, and I would totally make it again, because that flavor is wild. But afterwards I found a post online from the author saying they used the salty, savory browning sauce primarily just for color – so I’ll try it again with that, some time. I’m sure it’ll still be fantastic, cause it wasn’t the molasses flavor that made it so good. The spiced crab legs recipe… oh my god the sauce is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life. I’ve been trying it on all kinds of other stuff, and it seems to work on just about everything. Well, everything that a spicy sauce could be good on, anyway. I tried it on crab, garlic bread, salmon, a bison steak, even *pizza rolls*, and it was so unbelievably good on everything. I want to make a whole pizza with it as the sauce…The book is worth it just for the spicy crab sauce. I need to make a lot more of that.

Amazing book with adorable lore additions
We’ve been really enjoying this book so far. Every recipe is very accessible, and the ones I’ve tried so far have been very easy to do and have been big hits.So far our faves are the Tato Soup and the Blamco mac and cheese. The Tato soup is particularly incredible, just don’t make the mistake of replacing butter with margarine and you’ll be golden!

Absolutely worth!!!! Fall out fans should go for it.
Big fan of video games(especially fallout 4 specifically) also have elder scrolls, and final fantasy XIV cook books. Worth the 20$ each! Why not the t shirts are the same 20$ haha. They made a good twist on regular recipes. Using turmeric cardamom pods cloves ridiculous amount for cinnamon lol (recommend buying at a foreign type supermarket easier to find and way cheaper ) (being Spanish myself finding very cheap herbs and spices at the local Hispanic supermarket)Everything is very easy to make. Very detailed instructions and portions of ingredients. Some you do have to let sit overnight. Like the perfectly preserved pie and some others I forgot the recipes.Wouldn’t recommend making the Bundt cake spicy lol not worth it. (Did it just to try it)Also just google a good way to make the butterscotch frosting (Wouldn’t recommend making it the way it’s in the book)My favorite so far is Saddle up Salisbury steak and the slocum’s buzzbites. I’m still working my way through this book and the others. Perfect ratio amount of recipes for the cost. In my opinion.(I forgot to add the milk to the icing on the SweetRolls) the only reason it looks like that.

“Welcome to Vault-Tec life!”
I’ve had this book for almost two weeks now, and I’ve enjoyed preparing several meals out of it so far! Each recipe has a full-page picture on the opposite page accompanying it. There are loads of humorous notes and descriptions in the book, as well as some nice artwork on the inside covers and some clever nods to the game (such as the S.P.E.C.I.AL. stats). The quality of the book itself is also great; it’s hardcover and printed on high-quality paper. The recipes range from appetizers to desserts and everything in between, and they all have clearly-written instructions including prep time and servings. Some are more difficult to prepare than others but there’s many that even a novice cook could pull off with ease. The one thing that was a slight disappointment was that there are few clear instructions on how to adjust the recipes in case you need to substitute ingredients. Some recipes call for ingredients that may be somewhat difficult to find, and having some dietary restrictions myself that may be an issue for some buyers. However, this is a problem I’ve found with most other cookbooks that aren’t specifically tailored for people on a special diet. Overall I think the author did a great job of including a wide variety of recipes, and many of them have ingredients such as coconut milk if you’re lactose intolerant. There are even some vegetarian recipes included as well, like the meatloaf. Also, the recipes that call for ingredients such as bison work well with other meats. I tried one with beef and it cooked up wonderfully! Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the Nuka-Cola recipe was more generic than the 17 fruit flavors the game states it has. I wasn’t expecting to add 17 different fruits into a drink recipe anyway but there’s really only a handful of citrus and cinnamon flavors that come through to differentiate it from regular cola. The Nuka-Cola Quantum recipe seems better in this regard since there’s also fruit punch and pomegranate included. Aside from that the drink recipes seem to be tasty, and there’s a nice amount that are non-alcoholic as well. I got what I expected and I didn’t find the content of the book to be out of setting. For what it is (a Fallout-branded cookbook) I think the author did an excellent job and I’ve enjoyed flipping through it just to read the notes. If you’re either a fan of the game or just a chef looking for some unique spins on recipes (the chili comes to mind) then this is a must-have. Looking forward to the Elder Scrolls one as well!

SO WORTH IT
My boyfriend loves fallout 4 and he has been wanting this book for so long, and he isn’t that big into cooking his he wants to get into it so badly. And so I got this book for him for our anniversary and he adores it so much!! And he made the Blamco Mac and cheese and it was so delicious! It had such a unique taste and texture. And I’m such a picky eater and I enjoy it so much! I can’t wait for him to make more delicious things! And the book came in perfect condition, no cracks, bends or anything!

Love this book!
Really enjoying it so far. I’ve made a few of the desserts and have been using it as a reference for my own daily recipes. You can follow the stuff in this book to the letter if you want, but it’s not like other cookbooks. You can easily use it as a guide to direct what you make instead of stressing about making “perfect” food.An example is the Nuka-Cola recipe. I left out the cardamom and browning sauce, and put in a dash of cherry juice instead of making a cherry syrup for the Nuka-Cola Cherry recipe. It was more than good enough when combined that way. Same thing with the Sugar Bombed Carrots. Use sweet potatoes! From a can, even! Leave out the extra sugar if you want… You don’t have to make the food exactly as it says unless it’s mainly technique, like for meringue or cookies.I made the Quantum Pie with Oreos and melted coconut oil ground up and stuck in a pie pan in the fridge, and with pre-made pudding cups! I left off the neon whipped cream, because I can’t have a lot of artificial dye and all whipping cream now has additives in it that hurts my body. Just buy a tub of Cool Whip and stir in some food coloring! Nobody is going to care! I melted some chocolate chips and coconut oil together and poured that on top instead. It was still quite tasty. You aren’t expected to follow this book to the letter. Use it like you were a vault dweller or living in the Commonwealth or something. Use what you have! It’s quite fun to use. I have a lot of cookbooks and many are 100% from scratch and stressful to cook with if you’re on a limited budget or not healthy enough to toil away at a recipe. This one is not one of those. Any home chef will find this easy to use… I am confused by the negative reviews.

Great!!!!
Bought this for my younger brother (18-24 age range) who’s a fellow Fallout fan. He’s been trying to learn to cook for himself and while I’m happy to help, he’s not the most focused person, and falls into the godawful mindset I was a victim of at his age, “well this didn’t turn out perfect the first time so I’m never doing it again”. As you can imagine this makes explaining things and having a sorta-designated cooking night more difficult that it ought to be.That’s where this cookbook comes in – instructions are laid out clearly in a personal and humorous way, and acts as a launching-off point for our conversations (and our tinfoil hat lore debates), while still remaining on task. He’s learned so much and has started pairing foods and drinks together which I don’t even know how to do! And as a pair of born and bred Southerners, we were pretty hesitant about certain recipes like the devilled eggs and cornbread, but that was a huge mistake, everything in here is a hit!The only downside is that there’s no recipe for Strange Meat… Come on author, don’t be a coward! But really, I can’t recommend this book enough, thank you so much 🙂

A very good cookbook, with very good recipes, and a fair amount of fun flavor text
I haven’t made every recipe in the cookbook yet, but the ones I have made have been delicious. I can only assume the ones I have yet to try will also be delicious. As for the connections to the Fallout franchise, it has several dishes that are part of the franchise (including four different flavors of the iconic beverage Nuka-Cola, thankfully without the radioactive isotopes) and a fair amount of flavor text that makes the dishes that haven’t been featured in the games seem like things Wastelanders might have made with the ingredients they had on hand. A worthwhile investment for any Fallout fan who likes to cook, or who doesn’t eat exclusively prepackaged food.

A super fun cookbook. The recipes aren’t rustic like the elder scrolls cookbook. Victoria certainly pick more refined recipes for this one. As it should be. Though I feel she missed a beat not including any recipes with “cram”. Like cram chili or something. But overall I love it. First thing I made was nuka cola. So if you love fallout or know some one who does, this is a perfect gift.

Mojave Expansion when?
This cookbook is an amazing find, especially for Fallout fan such as myself. However, I noticed that most of these recipes stem more from “Fallout 4” rather than from the entire series. I understand if there were specific instructions from Bethesda to the writers to focus mostly on Fallout 4-related recipes; for that game is a more recent and popular installment under their belt. Unbeknownst to them, there is an installment that is far more recognizable and superior to the Fallout community than they could have ever perceived. And that ladies and gentlemen, is Fallout New Vegas. If you want to truly satisfy your Fallout customers to the max, I recommend expanding the recipes from the west coast (i.e. The Mojave Wasteland); for there is a massive loss of an opportunity that needs to be addressed here. I’ve screen-capped many lists from the Fallout Fandom.wiki, and it is a gold mine full of interesting recipes. For example, you have Bighorn steaks, Gecko steaks, Fire Ant fricassee, Sierra Madre Martini, and many others. I would say there is at least $18-$25 worth of expanded content that can be expressed by the amazingly talented chefs at Insight Editions. In conclusion, this cookbook is incredible and I am happy that these fictional consumables are brought to life for me and others to experience. The only true request I have as of now is for a Mojave Expansion Cookbook.

Bought this because my husband and I are fallout fans. I like how the recipes are easily followed. We love the Nuka sodas, I use the Nuka BBQ sauce for every BBQ we have, the kids love the sodas. The perfectly preserved pie aka cheesecake, it’s so good. It took me a few times to get it right because I had never used a spring form pan before but I did it and now I make it twice a month or more. I could go on and on about the book, but I am so happy I bought it! So far everything is great!

My Favorite CookBook
i have been working my way through this cookbook. i vowed to cook every recipe. i love how versatile the recipes are. there are substitution and diet restriction ideas in the beginning. This book has a real feel of the game. recipes are easy to understand and follow. i would gift this to anyone who likes cooking. I also have the pleasure of communication with vickie via twitch. she often does cooking streams and is as nice as can be. I have her destiny cookbook as well. if you are looking for different cuisine, i would suggest picking that one up too. i will be preordering her street fighter cookbook as well. i really enjoy her take on flavor pairings. there have been times where i thought to myself, wait…what? i follow the recipe and i’m very pleased! i just made the ragdull power noodles. i’m not one to get excited about soup. i usually eat the good stuff and throw away the broth. i actually drank the broth out my bowl. it was delicious! it is a new comfort food in our house. there are a few recipes that i’ve cooked that have been included in our rotation. if you like cooking pick this book up, you WON’T be sorry!!! This is a cookbook that i will cook from for years to come!

Avoid the Tato Soup
Lot of the recipes in here are divine and taste delicious. We’ve tried the sugar bomb carrots (like candied yams), Pipers special soda bread (great around St. Pattys day), slow roasted leg of yao guai (best one so far), and buffout cookies (my kids favorite). My husband and I decided today that we would try cooking the Tato Soup, since I love potatoes so much. Love them so much that I could eat a different kind of potato meal every day… Except the tato soup recipe which tasted like a spicy pepper fennel with the consistency of a mashed potato. The Tato soup is awful… Simply so awful. Lot of work to make, and not worth it in the end. We tried extra coconut milk, and veggie broth, even some extra cheese… Added some brown sugar in the end… which brought it from a 1 out of 10 to a 4 out of 10. Avoid it at all costs. Waist of veggies. Dog didn’t even want to eat it.I used roma tomatoes, margarine (dairy allergy in the family), and extra virgin olive oil but otherwise followed the recipe as instructed. Don’t know where I went wrong with it. If you decide you want to chance it, you were warned.

Excellent Fallout themed cookbook
So far all 8 of the recipes that I’ve tried have been great. Some ingredients might be hard to come by but are worth it. The Fallout theme is definitely here, with a survivor of the wasteland scribbling notes along side many of the dishes. Speaking of the dishes there are normal foods just with Fallout names slapped on, but also many that actually come the video games. Such as Boomco Mac n cheese or Nuka Cola. All of the photos in this book are amazing and make the meals look delicious. The quality of the book is great, it feels very good to handle. And the recipe directions are both detailed and easy to follow. So overall a fantastic book with great tasting dishes, but beware some ingredients can be hard to find.

Beautiful Cookbook, Great Recipes!
Quick review:-Easy cooking skill level-Affordable meals-Beautiful layout and images-Many recipes can be altered for vegetarian/sugar-free/gluten free with some practice-This cookbook is not focused on dietary needs. It is; however, super fun, beginner & budget friendly! The book arrived in perfect condition and it’s a lovely item for Fallout fans! Sometimes I’ve gotten themed cookbooks for other things and have been disappointed by the simplicity or straight out failed recipes, but this cook book did not disappoint!I will say that if you’re looking for cookbook with sugar-free, keto, vegan or any other type of diet restriction friendly recipes this isn’t quite the book for that. I do like that it says in the first page that you can adapt these recipes which I agree with. It doesn’t do that alterations for you, but really with which practice you can change any recipe to fit your needs. This book has some unique recipes that I’ve actually never seen before like the Scotch Eggs (Brahmin Fries). It’s been a fun way to try to meals and get some more practice in the kitchen. What I love, love, love are the pictures for each recipe! I am a visual person and I like to see what something is supposed to look like and it’s more attention grabbing making me more likely to want to make something.

Not exactly novice but very good
If you’ve used cookbooks like the Elder Scrolls cookbook you might be surprised, like I was, just how many more ingredients get used in… basically everything. Most of the main courses have at least two columns of ingredients, and the text is not very large in size.Still, the recipes are good and so far nothing I’ve made from it has tasted bad, or everyone’s just being nice to me and I like everything I make.I saw some reviews of people saying you need to be close to an Asian market, but I have yet to encounter any ingredient that can’t be found at Walmart or even on Amazon itself. There are some outlandish ones but you can skip them or find replacements rather easily. I wouldn’t worry about not being able to find the ingredients.

On Nuka Cola
The ONLY thing pulling this down from a 5 star rating is the nuka cola recipies.Don’t get me wrong, they are delicious! But it seems like either I’m missing something or theres a instruction missing. Only nuka cherry is indicated as a add-on, but Quantum, while tasty, doesn’t taste like its fine on its own. Was it supposed to be mixed with nuka cola?Is quartz supposed to be mixed with nuka cola?I don’t know, they don’t tell you.Either way, a great book with in-universe recipes, written just how vault-tech would(after all, this is a offical vault tech cookbook, for vaults) AND writing by a unknown traveling wastelander. You’ll hear his tales from far and wide as he uses the book and experience to make culinary delights from his worlds past in the strange future. Poor guy, every berry-based food has to be replaced with the only damned fruit left: Mutfruit.

Great item for a Fallout fan
Love the references and nods to the Fallout games, and the recipes themselves aren’t bad. Loved what I have been able to make thus far.
