    Fun nostalgic purchase

    This was a great trip down memory lane. I had the original Atari as a kid and this was a lot of fun to have. It is missing a few games that I would have liked to see like pac-man but it did have Frogger, Space Invaders, Astroids, Centipede. Overall it was fun. If you are accustom to the current high def gaming this will likely be far too basic for you. If you want to revisit your gaming past from 40 years ago it is great.

    SD Card Slot = To Infinity & Beyond!!!

    I have been on the fence to buy an Atari Flashback console since the early days. The Atari Flashback 9 made one HUGE change by adding a SD card slot. Just go to YouTube and you will figure it out why this is such a big deal. The hardware, packaging, and shipping, get’s a big fat A+ in my book. And for around $40, you get to play some of the most awesome games ever created (BACK IN THE DAY) and in HD!!!One big question remains – HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY??? JUST DO IT!!!

    Cool retro game with SD slot

    The SD slot really makes this the best retro Atari system. You can get all the old games, and even create or modify your own. Downside – I have not found any compatible paddles and some games need those to be fun.

    fun but was super dusty when i opened the package

    great console, only thing is when i picked it up and opened it there was dust all over the console and controller. everything works but just watch out if you have really severe asthma

    A Blast!

    Our whole family’s having a blast. Love the retro games. Player two joystick wasn’t working properly on Space Invaders, but a firmware upgrade took care of that. Definitely need different controllers for Breakout – impossible to play with supplied joystick.

    So far so good

    The only thing I didn’t like was having to come up with a HTMI cord to hook it up to the tv. Other wise we seem pretty happy with it so far.

    Great system, great price.

    With the ability to add my own games, this thing is great! I’m subtracting one star for the mere fact that it doesn’t include paddles, but that’s a minor niggle.

    Best Atari Flashback yet box was smashed

    Game plays great and works perfectly even the SD card with a new games on it. However the box that it came in was crushed beyond belief.

    Its been hacked

    Wonder why this thing is always 300 bucks? Because its been hacked to play 2600, 5200, 7800, Atari 8bit home computer, lynx, you name it.

    Unreliable HDMI connection

    The HDMI connection is unreliable. Every time the kids try to change games we lose the video feed. Unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable a few times fixes the issue, but it is a pain. I use the same HDMI cable to connect a laptop with no problems.

    Really only a one player game

    Player one works well and as expected. Player two controller stops game and moves to another whenever joystick is moved left. So, in essence, only a one player game.

    OH, the good old days!

    Works sometimes, games are just what we remembered but the cord length is kind of short and the system sometimes requires several attempts to power up.

    Not worth it.

    One big issue is that it doesn’t come with the hdmi cable, which is incredibly irritating considering the $55 price tag. I expected it to have the cables. You also have to buy the paddles for some of the games. The console itself is very light, feels very cheaply made. This is a cool thing to have, but I don’t think it’s worth it’s price.

    Piece of junk, but great if it works.

    The only games that worked were the ones that were the arcade versions of the games (Frogger and Space Invaders) and none of the 108 Atari 2600 games. They say in the instruction manual that the original 2600 paddles will work with this unit. After paying 14.99 + S&H on ebay for paddles, I can tell you that they don’t. I am returning this unit and will give this one more try, because I love these games from my childhood.

    Fun vintage games.. if it works..

    Missing items ..

    Was super excited to try this out with my mom who grew up on these games and it was missing the hdmi cord which is step #9 . Disappointed that i have to now go out and purchase the cord it should have cake with .

    Do not waste your money

    Bought this for a family Christmas gift. Used it ONE time for about thirty minutes. Plugged it back in last week and it doesn’t work. Tried it on three other tv’s and also tried a new HDMI cord. Still won’t work. Extremely disappointed and now I can’t even get a refund because it’s past 30 days. Still have the box and the one controller is still in the bag. Couldn’t be more irritated 😠

    For the games it has its worth buying

    I love this game counsel.it has some of my favorite old time Atari games including adventure, even adventure 2 which I did not even know existed.also space invaders and asteroids. Most of the games are garbage yet for what it does have its worth it.

    Super Fast Shipping!

    I received this days before expected so that was a huge plus! However, i was a little aggravated that there was no hdmi cable or any cable in fact to hook it to the tv right out of the box. Fortunately i had a spare hdmi cable and was able to hook it up right away. So far space invaders and missile command are my favorite throw back games. Most of the games i will never play because they are sooo basic. However, i just read that i may be able to download or update games by using the SD card slot. That could be a huge positive if that is true.

    Broken!

    I bought this console for my 3 year old daughter because she loves Frogger. First off the box the console was shipped in was in a lunchables box! Frogger does not load and crashes the console when selected! There are 11 pages of games to choose from, this console freezes and stops working when you try to go past page 7! I am so disappointed with this product. This is just sad. I need a refund or some way to return this item and get a replacement.

    I love this little machine. It has a good collection of games already put on it and you can add a SD card to add thousands of other 2600 games onto it. I put a file full of homebrews and classic Atari games onto my flashback 9 and you’ll be surprised how many homebrews of modern games are on the 2600. I got a real Atari 2600 now so I see myself using this less now but I use it whenever I travel. I’ll be in a motel room bored and I just hook this up to the TV and stay up playing. That’s just me tho. If your someone who’s looking into getting this for a wow facture your gonna get disappointed. To me I play Atari games for the gameplay because I’m sure the community and I know the graphics aren’t the preittest but damn their fun to play. So if that doesn’t bother you than it’s for you. But there are those few games that make you say “This is a Atari game?!”

    No where near the quality of the real atari

    It has a delay, is you play a game like Kaboom, you’re not playing it like you did in the 80’s. The delay is so bad, it makes most games unenjoyable. Game console is made so cheap.

    This is the one to get! Love it!

    I love it! System boots quickly. Menu system is nice. Controllers work great and the original Atari controllers work as well including paddle. I chose wired controllers simply because wireless can be a problem sometimes. HDMI makes the games look crystal clear instead of using the old RF switch on a modern HD TV which looks horrible. By the way, an HDMI cable is not included. Didn’t bother me because I have plenty. If not get a Monoprice or Amazon Basics cable for cheap! This system is only $40 which is less than the price of one modern day game! The greatest feature is the addition of the SD slot! I currently have over 1000 games on the system. Brings back so many memories. Amazing!

    Used Product

    I bought it new (so I thought) but opened the box and all the cables were loose, but the wire ties originally holding them were loose in the box. When I turned on the game for the first time, there were multiple games listed in the “recent played” section. Clearly was a used item, not happy I paid full price for a used item.

    Old school hit or miss.

    Played it briefly with my mother and little brother to see what it would be like to try an old school console. The game is great. I believe it will be a hit or miss for some people though. Like I didn’t really enjoy it too much since I grew up with the gamecube and the first and second playstation but my mother and little brother seemed to have a blast with it. So if you grew up with it or like retro games this is worth it.

    Perfect Box For Gamers and Retro Fans

    This great little box crams in over 100 games and while some of them are pretty weak there are at least a couple of dozen titles on their own that justify the purchase (Air Raid, Keystone Capers, Frogger to name just a few). Add in the ability to slot an SD card loaded with ROMs into the device and this is a winner for retro game fans. The very easy to use menu system, reasonable price, upscaling and small form factor don’t hurt either.

    You may not receive what you ordered

    I ordered The Atari Flashback 9.. which clearly stated that it was an HDMI output for your TV. I even purchased a 15 foot HDMI cable in anticipation of arrival. What arrived was a previously used device that had RCA outputs one for video and the other for audio..What gives I cannot even use this on the modern flat screen TV .. This was supposed to be HDMI output and 720 resolution… I am very disappointed..I suppose the included games are good..but if you cannot connect it what good is it.

    Waste of money!!

    This wouldn’t work at all!! It was a total waste of my money and Christmas present for our granddaughter. We were not able to return it because it had been almost two months since we bought it by the time it was opened at Christmas. Very disappointed!! The only reason I put even one star is it wouldn’t let me submit review if I didn’t!

    Needs work.

    Some of the games have glitches. Space Invaders has a problem where you hiy around 8000 points and the score jumps to 999999. And then its is useless. Nice idea but needs work.

    Broke within 10 min

    Controller broke within 10 minutes. Seller can only offer returns. Was suggested I contact manufacturer for controller replacement and was given the contact info. Manufacturer is listed as Atari. Atari said they are not the manufacturer of this product. Returning and hope to get a refund quickly.

    Worked perfect but need to already have a HDMI cable

    Great product. Easy to hook up but you need to buy the HDMI cable separate. Easy to navigate the screen options and game play with the controller with the red buttons on the side. All the games seem like the original to me and worked perfectly.

    only 1 controller works

    The outlet on the right doesn’t work. It comes with a ton of games which is really fun but you can only do one player for all of them. Not as fun. Unfortunately my husband didn’t set it up right away and by the time we realized one didn’t work it was too late.

    Doesn’t Work…what a disappointment!!

    I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my wife but due to moving to a new residence we couldn’t set it up until yesterday. We found that only 3 of the games operate correctly and none of those are the most popular ones desired. It will not load the games and if it does the game freezes immediately. Now unfortunately it’s to late to return it even for credit. Since we are not avid gamer’s of today’s video games it was exciting to think we could get to play games we grew up with but again a major disappointment. I should have know that $39 for a complete gaming system meant it wasn’t going to function as advertised!
